“China Telecom ICT Solutions Forum 2008” was held on September 2, 2008 by China Telecom (Hong Kong) International Ltd with the theme of “Enhancing Competitiveness Through Effective ICT Strategy”. Over 100 customers from Hong Kong are invited as well as the customers from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.Representatives from China Telecom’s headquarter, major branch offices from mainland and overseas had also participated. Multiple International Solutions Partners, which are included Cisco SAP, Fujitsu and Peplink ,had set up their exhibition booths to demonstrate their ICT applications which were proved to be highly popular to customers. China Telecom (Hong Kong) has introduced their oversea businesses and development and presented the main theme of forum in which the utilization of the “3Is” ICT strategy (IP Communications, Information Technology and Information Services) and providing global one-stop services to achieve the corporate mission in enhancing their competitiveness. The Forum has also invited several guest speakers to share their experience on how corporate could improve efficiency and competiveness and facilitate the planning of technological investment strategy in the future through correct use of ICT. The Guest keynote speaker, Professor Xu Yan of Department of Information and Systems Management of HKUST, also the President of Regulatory Issues Group of the Communications Association of Hong Kong, has innovatively analyzed on the latest ICT trend, highlighted the importance of innovation, and demonstrated how ICT affects the competitiveness of a firm. Mr. James Stanbridge of Microsoft (China) Ltd. has introduced how Microsoft, being a world’s leading MNC, drew the advantages on business development and customer services by utilizing ICT. Mr. Fang Weiqi of China Merchants Group Ltd. looked at the ICT strategy from the perspective of a giant Chinese conglomerate with business domains spreading through Hong Kong, China and Asia Pacific. He illustrated how ICT has been implemented to strengthen the internal management of the group, and how it facilitates the robust growth in all her business domains. Mr. Ma Yimin, Chairman and CEO of China Telecom (Hong Kong) highlighted the status of acquisition of the China Unicom’s CDMA business & network. He also stressed that China Telecom has established an influential footprint in Asia by possessing the largest bandwidth and capacity network between Hong Kong and Mainland China as well as robust infrastructure connecting to overseas countries. Apart from providing its exclusively cross-border international circuits by submarine and terrestrial cables, China Telecom also provides the different value of ICT Solutions from basic Point-to-point & Multipoint to Multipoint Network Service (IEPL, MPLS VPN) , Total Managed Service, Disaster Recovery & Business Contingency Plan and Business Process Outsourcing e.g. Call Centre Services to the customers with one-stop-shop services. All the participants exchanged their experiences and ideas in a warm and constructive atmosphere and found the Forum very informative and fruitful for keeping abreast of the latest market trends and benefit a lot of their ICT planning.
